John Georges is a third generation Greek entrepreneur with a portfolio ranging from national food distribution to publishing. His start came from working for his family’s business, Imperial Trading Co., which was founded by his immigrant grandfather. Georges eventually took the family business to a billion dollar corporation. Georges’ other entrepreneurial pursuits include ownership of Galatoire’s and most recently The Advocate.
A firm believer in education and entrepreneurship, Georges founded both Lemonade Day in Louisiana and the Galatoire’s Foundation, while also serving as a trustee for the National WWII Museum, past president of the Young Presidents Organization of Louisiana, past member of the Tulane University President’s Council, the University of New Orleans Foundation, the LSU Medical Foundation Board, New Orleans and Jefferson Parish Business Councils, World Trade Center, Chamber of Commerce, and State of Louisiana Board of Regents.
Georges is a graduate of Tulane University. He and his wife, Dathel, live in New Orleans with their three children.
Breakfast to Business is a bi-monthly program held on the third Tuesday of every other month and presented by LSU Executive Education, which is housed in the LSU Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute. The aim of the program is to provide timely, practical information and solutions regarding current business topics that affect the Baton Rouge community from a local, regional, and national perspective.
